Get the education you need to have the career you want. To pilot a drone, RPA, or UAV for commercial purposes within Australia, you need the proper certification. Remote Pilots Licences are issued by CASA, the Civil Aviation Safety Authority, and in order to obtain one you must complete a training course with an approved training provider. At Total RPA, we provide fully CASA certified training and consulting packages.
Total RPA Virtual classroom
Total RPA has always offered virtual classroom training for remote communities and those who couldn’t make it to one of our scheduled courses and venues.
With the recent and massive changes to the way Australians will be living for the foreseeable future, we are now offering virtual classroom training to Everybody, Australia Wide.
What this means is that you can still participate in an instructor lead class, accessed through your desktop, laptop or device. The course content remains unchanged and you will still have access to total RPA’s state of the art online training platform which actually learns and evolves to your individual needs, making sure you receive structured, tailored training to facilitate the best learning outcome possible. Note this is a LIVE class in real time, there is no recorded content.
The flight training components will be arranged in very small groups, out in the open training/ flying areas to minimise any contact and adhere to social isolation rules.

Remote Pilot Certification
Total RPA are one of the only organisations accredited by CASA to deliver this course. The course is designed for, and aimed specifically at, the new drone/UAV (Multi-rotor) pilot. Over the 5 days, you will learn all about RPA systems, aerodynamics, mission planning and preparation and various other topics that will prepare you for a career as a drone pilot in Australia. Upon successful completion of the course, you will have your Remote Pilots Licence, aviation radio operators certificate and night operations certificate of competency.
CASA ReOC — RPA Operator’s Certificate
If you want to start a serious drone business or add drones to your existing business, you need to hold a CASA RPA Operator’s Certificate (ReOC). Once issued by CASA, this certificate encompasses your business operations as a whole. Total RPA can assist you to prepare and manage all of the technical documents required to make an application to CASA. We write all your manuals and consult with you on how your business will operate inside the rule framework, how to manage future changes to the documents along with practical advice on the day-to-day running of an Australian drone business.
Digital mapping and surveying
Considering using a UAV to obtain mapping and surveying data? Even for experienced surveyors, using a Drone for this purpose presents its own special challenges.
Total RPA provide training for basic mapping in the 5 day RePL course, giving you exposure to the most modern and up to date mapping platforms as part of the basic course.
We also provide an advanced mapping and surveying course over 2 days.This course will give you more advanced topics on aerial imaging for data acquisition in various fields, including, mapping, agriculture, spotting and surveying, giving you the tools you need to develop your career anywhere in Australia. The course is accredited by the surveying association and is delivered by a mapping industry veteran.
Total RPA are now offering ReOC processing
This means that now, you do not need to apply for your ReOC through CASA. We can take care of it for you. As the industries most trusted training organisation, Total RPA have been approved by CASA to act on their behalf to assess, process and issue remotely piloted aircraft operator certificates directly to applicants.
Participants can access subsidised funding for courses, with a 50% co-contribution on vocational courses (up to a maximum of $2,200).
Eligibility criteria include:
- being an Australian citizen or permanent resident;
- aged between 45 and 70; and
- employed and at risk of entering the income support system; or
- unemployed for less than nine months and not receiving employment assistance. (Please note: due to Covid-19 the Australian Government has extended the time of unemployment from 3 months to 9 months. This came into effect 3rd August 2020).
Stick around for an extra day and learn all about drone photography. This one day course will guide you through the basics of digital photography. The course is delivered by a professional photographer and photography teacher with over 40 years industry experience.
